September 2022 In Review

September was fairly quiet in terms of technical developments. After releasing the energy system in late August, the Subsocial developer team spent September working on our staking system, which is still in development.

Let’s take a look at our important announcements from September.

Subsocial NFT Migration

The Subsocial team released a few NFT collections on Singular 1.0 in the past. As of September 1st, those NFTs can be migrated to Singular 2.0, which supports the RMRK 2.0 standard.

Owners of these NFTs will need to sign a transaction in order to migrate them, which can be done from the page of the individual NFT.

Web App Notifications & Statistics

Our friends at Subsquid recently built us a hot new blockchain indexer, allowing us to make some big improvements to our web app. The entire app should be faster now, and the notifications and statistics pages are now functional.

Notifications will make it easier than ever to foster engagement, respond to comments on your posts, and see how much activity there is around your content. You can find the notification icon in the top right corner, next to the energy icon.

The statistics page can be found in the left sidebar, and provide a good view of community activity on Subsocial.

The NODEsense Podcast

On September 21st, Cooper & Arrow from The NODEsense Podcast had Subsocial’s community manager and content lead Yung Beef on the show to talk about many different aspects of the project. It was an excellent conversation, give it a listen.

Polkadot Community Call

Yung Beef went on October’s Polkadot Community Call to spread the news about our recently released energy system, along with a small teaser of the Spacers, an upcoming NFT collection with Subsocial utility. You can listen to the recording to hear Yung Beef speak at 34:00.

Spacer Preparations

On the 27th, a tweet was posted with this image. It sounds like they will be here in around five weeks… We should start preparing too!

About Subsocial

Subsocial is a social networking platform built to support the social networks of the future. These apps will feature built-in monetization methods and censorship resistance, where users will own their content and social graphs. Built with Substrate pallets, Subsocial is a one-of-a-kind in the Dotsama ecosystem, and designed specifically for social interactions. These interactions do not have to be specifically social networking, as Subsocial can support apps like YouTube, Shopify, or even Airbnb.
