Sub.ID Treasury Proposal Summary: Batch 1

Sub.ID Treasury Proposal Summary: Batch 1

At the end of September of 2022, the Kusama treasury funded Batch 1 of our proposal for the continued development of Sub.ID. As of February 2023, this batch has been completed, with all of the promised features live on Sub.ID.

Batch 1 added the ability to easily claim crowdloan rewards and transfer tokens on Sub.ID, as well as support for Polkadot and Kusama validator staking, and collator staking for a few chains. Additionally, Sub.ID’s frontend code is now open source.

We posted three video demo reports that overview the important developments funded by this proposal. You can watch the demos on Subsocial’s YouTube channel, or read on for more details about each feature.

Staking

First, we implemented Collator staking, and later on, Validator staking. Our goal was to make Collator and Validator staking as friendly as possible for end users, while also maximizing staking rewards for all of the supported chains of the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystem.

For now, Collator staking only supports Bifrost, Moonriver, and Moonbeam, while Validator staking supports both Polkadot and Kusama. We will continuously add collator staking support for more and more parachains, so that users won’t have to find and research where and how to stake on each individual chain. It will simply all be in one place: Sub.ID.

Crowdloan Claims

With parachain crowdloans, it is common to have a vesting timeline for some or all of the benefits for crowdloan participants. Previously, these parachains had to create a custom web UI to allow users to claim their vested tokens, or users had to manually navigate the Polkadot.js web apps to do so, which has never been the most user friendly platform.

You no longer need to remember any of this; simply go to your Sub.ID page, click on the crowdloan drop-down in the sidebar, and easily claim your vested benefits by clicking the claim button.

Transfers

Sub.ID previously supported same-chain transfers for a few assets. The list of supported assets has been expanded, and many cross-chain options have been added with this release. We are going to continue expanding it into the future.

Making a transfer on Sub.ID is now as easy as it gets. Sign in to your Sub.ID profile and go to the Balances page. There you will see the active Transfer button beside every chain. Clicking it will make the transfer modal appear, allowing you to select a same-chain or cross-chain transfer. Again, it’s all in one place, organized with a friendly UI.

As we deploy these new features, we believe that everybody in the Polkadot community can find something interesting for themselves on Sub.ID. Go check if you forgot to claim some of your crowdloans — you might still have some waiting for you. Or, maybe you have some tokens you can stake, and now you can stake them right on Sub.ID.

We will be bringing a proposal for Batch 2 to the table soon, to fund development of features such as alternative balance views, account grouping, transaction history, and P&L analytics.

Thank you, and see you in Batch 2!
